Why Volunteer?

  1. The kids are adorable! Kids help you see the world differently.  They make you laugh and brighten your day.  With this program, you have the chance to build a special relationship with one child.

  2. If you like children, love books and reading, and like passing on what you know, volunteering with Reading Partners is a great fit for your interests.

  3. You're giving a child a critical life skill that will help him through the rest of his life.  Children who are disadvantaged economically are in great need of the support you're offering.  Read more about the need.

  4. You're part of something bigger. When you're tutoring, you're sitting in a room among many volunteers from all walks of life who are also working with a student like yours.  Together, you're changing the world one child at a time.

  5. It's easy to fit into your schedule. All it takes is 45 minutes a week.

  6. You can make a difference. What you have to offer -- something as simple as your presence and your care and attention -- is priceless to a child in need.  As you care for one, you and your whole community rejuvenate and strengthen.

  7. It's very rewarding and lots of fun! When you experience the moments when your student's eyes light up because she's learning and excited to be getting it, you can't help feeling and sharing her excitement.
