Smiling faces and a loud buzz of excitement filled the air as Site Coordinator Miriam Adrianowicz gathered her students at Sherman Elementary School.  "It's been a great semester at Sherman. The tutors have been great and we were able to serve more students than planned," she said.

One tutor, Aimee Zimmerman said, "I didn't have any teaching experience prior to coming to Reading Partners but I've really enjoyed it.  I appreciated the structure and ease of using the curriculum."

Reading Partners is finishing up its largest year to date with more than 850 students and more than 900 committed community volunteers.  To celebrate, each of our 15 Reading Centers has honored our participants with their own gathering and book giveaway to start off the summer with a new book in hand.

Many tutors are looking forward to return next year-some for their fifth year of volunteering.  "This was my second year of tutoring and I definitely plan to return in the fall. When I saw my grandkids make the connection with reading, it made me happy. I thought, 'why not do this for other kids?'" said Mimi Johnson-Jacobs, a tutor at Berkley Maynard Academy in Oakland.

Reading Partners thanks all its tutors for their hard work and commitment!  We wish everyone a great and rejuvenating summer.  See you all in the fall!
