2008-09 Program Results

cprecognitionIt truly has been an incredible year - the goals that we had set for ourselves were reached, them promptly surpassed.

With your support, Reading Partners set a new record for number of students served: 655 students in the San Francisco Bay Area and 170 students in the Los Angeles Area, totaling 855 students at our 15 reading centers. This is an increase of 81% as compared to the previous school year.

In addition, the number of hours that the average student took to raise reading levels one grade dropped from 30 hours to 25 hours, and nearly 90% of students increased their rate of learning.

"Day to day, it is sometimes difficult to see the progress each student makes. When we take a step back at the end of the year though, the collective impact of the program is staggering," said Michael Lombardo, Reading Partners CEO.

Next year, we will be serving over 1,200 students in three regions, as we go deeper into the Bay Area, and expand to a new region - Sacramento. Said Lombardo, "The need for our program is growing. But with so many committed supporters, we will rise to meet these challenges."
